- You need to look for your wallet and solder one yourself. :)
- Even if you decide not to, you can check the proper layout of the
- cable with the following table:
-
- Data: RxD <-> TxD
- TxD <-> RxD
- Handshake: RTS <-> CTS
- CTS <-> RTS
- Status: DTR <-> DCD
- \> DSR
- DCD <-> DTR
- DSR </
- Ground: GND <-> GND
- Sh <-> Shield
-
- The signals are on these pins (assuming a standard 25-pin sub-D
- connector):
-
- Pin 1 is Shield (together with the metal web around the cable)
- 2 TxD
- 3 RxD
- 4 RTS
- 5 CTS
- 6 DSR
- 7 GND
- 8 DCD
- 20 DTR
-
- Looking at a male connector on the computer, the numbering is as
- follows:
- _______________
- \ 1 ... 13 /
- \ 14 ... 25 /
- -----------
-
- Disclaimer: Mistakes reserved.
-
- There are null-modem cables that lack the handshake and status lines.
- Don't waste money on them, they force you to use XON/XOFF handshaking
- or none at all which is a major loss.
